Strategic planning determines where an organization is going over the next year or more and how it's going to get there. Typically, the process is organization-wide, or focused on a major function such as a division, department or other major function.
Here at Dowell management we've adopted the 3-D strategic planning approach for organizations to help focus on creating a plan based on their current business state.
Too often organizations move directly into the development and decision-making with little or no regard to developing the fact-based data necessary to effectively move forward. Our discovery process begins by grounding ourselves an understanding of the current state of your organization. We study your previous strategy work, your market, perspectives from key stakeholders and the external environment around your organization.
We use focus groups, one-on-one interviews, surveys, competitors’ analysis and more in the discovery process. This gives us a firm understanding of where your organization is now, and where you would like to go. This gives us the big picture view of who, what, where and how your organization wants to grow. By learning about your group first, we are able to ask the tough questions that lead planning in the right direction.
