Larry Dowell, President
Larry's career spans over 30 years in organizational management within the chamber of commerce industry in the upper Midwest, with an emphasis on coalition development, local and state public policy, economic development and political action.
Throughout his career, Larry has served as a manager, executive director, executive vice president, and president for Chambers in Rugby, North Dakota, as well as Alexandria, Montevideo, South Saint Paul and Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, and the Twin West Chamber of Commerce. Prior to retiring as president/CEO from the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce, Larry spent ten years building the organization into the largest local and regional chamber of commerce in the state of Minnesota, representing nearly 2,200 business members.
An active board member of several community organizations, Larry also provides ongoing leadership within the chamber of commerce industry. He is a member and past president of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce Executives and serves on several community boards.
Steve Jahn, Vice President and Executive Director, Eau Claire
Steve is a native of Appleton, WI, and a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Steve is a longtime and current resident of Menomonie WI, with over 30 years’ experience in the publishing world. He joined Dowell Management in September 2014 as our Vice President and serves as the Executive Director for Momentum West, based in Eau Claire.
Since 2007, Steve was vice president/publisher of Finance & Commerce, Inc. He led the Dolan Company’s Twin Cities operations, publishers of Finance & Commerce, Capitol Report/Politics in Minnesota, and Minnesota Lawyer. His responsibilities included overseeing operations with a staff of 60 employees involved in producing news, data and information. From 1996-2007 he was publisher of the Dunn County News and held several upper management positions at Chippewa Valley Newspapers, a regional group of newspapers in west central Wisconsin.
Dee Schutte, Account Executive
Dee has worked in the chamber of commerce industry for the past 17 years. She started at one of the largest chambers in the Twin Cities metro area, the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce, and most recently served as Executive Director of the Litchfield Area Chamber. She has served on numerous Boards of Directors including the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce Executives, the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce and the Mid-America Chamber Executives. Dee brings a skill set that includes organizational management, marketing, economic and workforce development, public policy and fund development.
Katie Klein, Business Manager/Client Services Manager
Katie's career with Dowell Management began in early 2008 as the first full-time team member hired by the company. As the company's Business and Client Services Manager, Katie's responsibilities include client relations, project management and office administration. Specific areas of focus include communications, financial management, event planning, and day-to-day management of both client affairs and the Dowell Management office. She has previous professional experience with Thomson Reuters and Paradise & Associates. Katie earned her degree in Business
Management and Public Relations from the University of St. Thomas in Saint Paul.
Jake Ganser, Account Representative
A marketing major from St. Cloud State University, Jake spent the past five years specializing in a variety of positions at Gander Mountain's Corporate Headquarters in Saint Paul. His experience there included inventory management, forecasting, budgeting, event planning, marketing, logistics and more. Jake joined Dowell Management in December 2014 and will be helping to provide backroom association management to several of our clients, with an emphasis on communications, member relations and database management.
Shar Pardubsky, On-Site Executive Director, Iowa
A veteran of the Iowa chamber community, Shar serves as executive director of the Iowa Chamber of Commerce Executives. Based in the Des Moines area, Shar specializes in building relationships, event planning, budget preparatoin, sponsor relations, and Board development. Shar has been a member of the Dowell Management team since February 2014, and previously was on the ICCE Board of Directors while Senior Vice President of Affiliate Relations for the Greater Des Moines Partnership where she built relations with all 22 of its affilliates.
Jeff Zahn, Project Design & Marketing Coordinator
With over 15 years of design and marketing experience, Jeff brings a wide variety of design and branding expertise. Working with companies large and small, he has the ability to translate an idea into a marketing plan that spans the web, email, social platforms, video and print. Jeff will provide graphic design for marketing materials, and fulfill social media requirements for the search process. He is here to help find the core of a client’s business, and match that with an emotional response from their target market. This gives clients marketing concepts that set them apart from their competition, but also money on their bottom line. Jeff is our own in house marketing firm that defines an organizations brand based on their target market and goals. Then he executes those ideas into a solid plan.
Nelson Dahl, On-Site Executive Director, Wausau
As executive director of Centergy, Dahl is responsible for directing the organization's growth and building a solid value proposition for this five County regional economic development organization.
Dahl comes to Dowell management and Centergy from midstate technical College where he served as VP finance and information technology. Dahl holds an MBA from Cardinal Stritch University and a BA in business administration/finance from the University of Wisconsin. He is also served in the finance core of the United States Army, stationed in Frankfurt Germany.
A central Wisconsin native, Dahl directs the Centergy program, based in Wausau, focused on marketing, economic competitiveness, talent development, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
